After Ever After – DISNEY Parody

Continuing with the remake of Disney‘s movies I present to you Jon Cozart. Funny kid with quite a witty way of looking at that old age statement; And they lived happily ever after. Unfortunately if all of that was true, then the world would be a better place, so Jon takes a different approach to such a bourgeois statement and moves it to the 21st century. What would happen to our favorite characters if they were living now in our world? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Beauty and the Beat by Todrick Hall – Belle in Da Ghetto Rendition

Well most of you have heard of Todrick Hall as a contestant on season 9 of American Idol, but since I do not watch TV, it was my first time running into his videos and pages on YouTube and lucky for me I discovered a side of him which is quite appealing. He’s talented, funny, spontaneous and with that brown wig (in the role of Spencer Liff) he looks like a younger version of Oprah. Ok, all kidding aside, he truly has a remarkable voice and his dance moves are quite interesting. His flash mob dance videos were the ones who got my attention the most, but here we have the funny side of Toddy with a remake of one of Disney‘s greatest hits Beauty and the Beast, this time in da Hood. Yup, Belle sure knows how to make it through anything in this world. I wish Todrick all the best and wish he finally gets recognized for his talent. In the mean time lets enjoy his rendition of Belle in da hood.

P.S. the hair salon scene is funny as hell just mentioning the fact when she goes in and says;  Hey LaWasha, Hey LaDrya, LMAO.

When Truth Hurts

One thing that can be said about working at an airport is that it highly educational. The mere amount of travelers from all corners of the globe, different cultures and languages gives you a better perspective of human behavior according to such backgrounds.

I overheard a small conversation between a mother and her little boy this morning. I didn’t hear the little boy’s question, but I did hear his mother’s answer which struck me for the first time in many-many years. She said; “because he doesn’t understand English, he has his own language and this is his country and you must understand and respect that.” Such simple truth, honest and by teaching her son to be respectful of another human being for the simple reason of language, culture and being in his/hers country as foreigners. I’m sad to say this seldom happens among most foreigners traveling through or living in other countries.

Now, going back to the video you’re about to watch I’m not sure how many of you have had a chance to see it, but it did struck me once more as truthful. Though a television show, the message is clear and it does not only apply to the subject matter of America being the greatest country in the world, but all countries. If you’ve had a chance to travel anywhere, I’m sure you noticed that such attitude as the one portrayed by the young woman asking the question and the subsequent answer of both politicians is prevalent everywhere. Just look at the Nordic countries (Norway, Denmark, and Sweden) and their attitude towards the rest of Europe, especially less developed ones. The message sent out by them is that of; We don’t want foreigners living here and lowering our standards of living by leaching on to our free social services. Go to Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, France and England and the prevailing sentiment is echoed in each of the aforementioned countries. Go visit the Balkans and watch how centuries old megalomaniac sectarian ideas of Greater Serbia, Greater Albania, Greater Greece, Greater Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Greater Macedonia(FYROM) continue to split and segregate these countries to the brink of another “cold war”. The rhetoric is the same everywhere; We Are the greatest country there is. Just like America, each European country clings to a feverish idea based on the past and not the present. Indeed many European countries where at one time or other superpowers during human history, yet the reality of the 21^st century is much-much different and they seem to be constitutionally adverse to admit their shortcomings. Portugal was once a great maritime superpower, so was Spain, England was an empire, Italy as well, Greece gave us civilization and democracy for better or for worse, France contributed to revolution and the demise autocracy for the sake of democracy and equal human rights just to see itself a few years later with yet another emperor. The list goes on and on and I would like to apologize to all the countries I failed to mention, though they must be.

The first is for someone very dear to me, more than anyone will ever know and allowed to know. Someone who brought joy into my life for a very short period of time, but who’s mark was left in me forever. Looking back, there’s only a handful of people for which my heart has beaten faster, felt more, and paid the highest price for my love. Yet, I cannot forget what I had and lost. After the Drunken Storm of Political Rhetoric – The Day After…the Election

I was lucky enough to come across an old stand-up show George Carlin did a few years back, and even luckier to find a piece where he talks about voting. Now most of you are not aware of my political view, and I’d like to remain it as such. At the same time some of you know how I feel about voting, not just in the US but everywhere in the world. So this is as much for myself, for you my followers of this blog and for my dear friend The AntiNietzsche who has had such an effect on my in recent months on many issues we’ve discussed, you can read his post about voting here and here.

I agree with every single vote George Carlin says in his rant, and it’s absolutely right to determine that since politicians come from us, voted by us, put in office by us, and they fuck us over and over, then why do we complain about them all the goddamn time? We deserve them as much as they deserve us, they come from the same scum we come from, hence we can’t expect them to be different nor better. They say that you are what you eat, by association we can say we have a political class kin to our own selves. Enjoy it.

Renee Fleming – Rusalka “Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém” (Song to the Moon).

I had never heard of Renee Fleming until a few months ago while watching the movie Broken Sky – El cielo dividido (original title) (2006). I will talk about the movie on a different post, but what I would like to say regarding Renee Fleming’s voice and Rusalka is that it is one of the greatest pieces I’ve heard so far in my life, written by the Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák in 1900. The very fact this was put into a scene where a broken heart guy, lonesome and hurting goes to a gay underground bar to meet someone, anyone, made the scene even more powerful. Her voice was so deep, so touching, full of feeling that I’m not ashamed to admit cried harder than I had done in years. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I did, and that it brings to you what it brought me, a touch of my own soul, hurting, in pain, yet hopeful.

Mariza – Cavaleiro Monge

I will never forget the first time I heard Mariza sing. It was something out of a dream, a voice so deep and touching it brought tears to my eyes and shivers down my spine. I had been a fan of Dulce Pontes, but discovering Mariza brought a new perspective on Portuguese music, and the subsequent discovery of Amalia Rodriguez. Mariza is an amazing singer and this is my favorite song which I have listen to hundreds of times and know the lyrics by heart. Like Mah Status…!!!

Ok guys, after all the drama of the past few days I decided to post something fun. I came across this video on YouTube while watching another episode of Ray William Johnson. Two things; MilesJai is a very funny guy, over the top diva, who reminds me of myself when I was his age and everything felt like the end of the world. Now that I’m older, I feel other stuff is really the end of the world so I laugh at all the teen drama as I’ve been through it myself. In the past week I’ve realized there’s a lot out there in music, movies, literature which resembles most of BPD symptoms and how “we” feel about it. Ok guys, as you might not know, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos lately, and I think I OD-ed on them, but here is something that made me laugh my ass off, which is a miracle considering it’s my day off and I’m in bed doing nothing since it’s raining outside kinda day….

Madonna – MDNA (2012)

Yesterday I got Madonna’s latest cd titled MDNA. This would be her 12^th in a long career, and there have been talks in recent years if she still got it, now that the likes of Beyoncé  and Rihanna seem to have dimmed the light of other, older singers. Depending on which blog, magazine or website you read, you get different reactions to her career and her music as well as her appeal as an artist. From what I was able to read yesterday before listening to the damn thing, was that she still got it, but of course I beg to differ. Madonna ain’t got it baby, she hasn’t had it for a decade or so and unless Madonna performs a miracle, she better not try to “get it” ever again. I listened to her songs and in seems a fair try to get people to like her, but the lyrics were silly and stale, almost a carbon copy of her last cd Hard Candy. She’s turned into a trashy-wanna-please-all kind of singer with same rhythms and beats we’ve heard time and time again.

Ok, so I was talking to a friend of mine the other day in regards to how most people in our lives act and react. What came up most during our conversation, was the fact most people are just not correct in all meanings this word implies. It’s gotten to a point that not only you never get your calls returned, but you get the phone hung up in your face without reason nor explanation later on by the person you just called. Now, I know some of us have lives, and there moments when you might be busy, but hanging up the phone and not calling later to let the other person know what the FUCK was going on is plain rude and INCORRECT. I don’t care if you’re clicking you heels with you fuck-du-jour, have the decency to call back, I might have needed your help at that moment, I might have had a crisis, or I might have just called to say hello and see how you, my friend, were doing. So here is to all you who have no common sense and telephone etiquette. Enjoy it.

Well guys, like I said in my previous post here, this is video is once again like watching the Food Network, while eating on a diet (cose not much sex yada yada yada, TMI) I mean where else can you mash up Kylie Minogue and the hottest guys in one video without singing, dancing to the tune or just drooling at the hunks on screen? At the same time it’s a bittersweet watching this video, cose it reminds me of how vibrant I used to be, how much I used to dance and sing, and how much a pair of high heels put a smile on my face (gasp), and took away all the stress of the day while singing to all sorts of tunes and drinking a Bacardi Silver. I miss those days, where I was happy at home, I was me, and there was no one around to make me think I was alone or unworthy of their time and affection.
